Spoorweglaan social housing Waregem

Modular new-build project with 24 housing units

The project site is a compact plot at the head of a new residential development. Surrounded by three streets – Spoorweglaan, Schoendalestraat and Routehuisstraat – the site has a prominent presence in the urban fabric.

The provisions of the masterplan prescribe two detached volumes. The 24 residential units are clustered by type: one building with two-bedroom apartments and one building with three-bedroom apartments. In this way, the modules with type apartments can be easily stacked, which offers clear advantages for vertical service shafts.

Per floor level, four residential modules are arranged around a central circulation module with staircase and lift. In this way, not only are two fairly compact buildings created, but maximum use is also made of corner apartments, which benefits the residential experience.

This project was developed within the framework contract for modular social housing in timber construction, in which META strengthens the team of CIT Blaton and Aché Terra.
