META architectuurbureau enters its competition design to the Stad Antwerpen for the building of Administratief Centrum Borgerhout. The project area is situated south of the Turnhoutsebaan, borders by the Bakkerstraat, Langstraat, Maréestraat, Mellartsstraat and is flanked by thr Districtshuis on the Moorkensplein.
By building this new centre the cell wall of the building bloc will be closed again and the core will be stoned. This way the compact fibre of row housing and back buildings will regain a private and protected character. The Moorkensplein together with the new neighbourhood park/ square will offer room to breath to the whole district.
Where on one side of the square enough height is generated to have enough mass, a minimal building height is maintained on the side of the central area. Moreover, in the development of the volume, special attention goes to the connections between the Moorkensplein and the new neighbourhood square.
